This Privacy Policy explains how demix.me ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you purchase, download, register, or use demix.me software ("the Software"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who We Are

The data controller responsible for your personal data is demix.me, operating in the United Kingdom.

2. What Data We Collect and Why

Registration and account data:
  • Email address — to issue and manage your licence and communicate about your account (legal basis: performance of a contract)
  • Name — to personalise your licence and correspondence
  • Payment information — processed by Stripe; we do not store card details
  • Purchase record and licence key — to verify your licence entitlement
Licence verification data (collected periodically by the Software):
  • Licence key — to confirm the licence is valid
  • Anonymised machine identifier — to enforce the machine limit on Paid Licences
  • Software version — to confirm compatibility
  • Approximate IP-derived country — to detect licence sharing

We do not collect your full IP address, your DAW or host application, the audio you produce, or any other usage information.

Support and correspondence:
  • The content of your message and your email address, used to respond to your query and, where you have contacted us about or registered interest in a product, to keep you informed about it (see Marketing communications below).
Marketing communications:
  • Your name and email address, used to send occasional news about demix.me products — new releases, updates and related offers.

Where you are an existing customer, or you contacted us or registered your interest in a demix.me product, we rely on our legitimate interests — and, for electronic marketing, the “soft opt-in” under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) — to send you news about that product and closely related ones. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email, or by emailing privacy@demix.me. We keep a record of unsubscribes so that we do not contact you again.

3. How We Share Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Stripe (payment processing)
  • Our licence server hosting provider (under data processing agreements)
  • Legal and regulatory authorities where required by law

4. Cookies

Our public website does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and does not track your activity across websites. The only cookies we set are strictly necessary session cookies on secure login and account areas, which keep you signed in while you use them; these are exempt from consent requirements and are removed when you close your browser. Because we set no non-essential cookies, we do not show a cookie consent banner.

When you make a payment you are redirected to Stripe, which sets its own cookies necessary for secure payment processing, under Stripe’s own privacy policy.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Account and licence data: duration of licence plus 6 years
  • Payment records: 6 years (UK tax law requirement)
  • Support correspondence: 2 years from last contact
  • Licence verification logs: 90 days rolling

6. Your Rights Under UK & EU GDPR

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you have the right to: access your data, rectify inaccurate data, erasure (subject to legal obligations), restriction of processing, data portability, object to processing, and withdraw consent where applicable.

You can access and manage much of your data yourself at any time through My Account: view your licences, keys and downloads, update your name, change the email address on your account, or unsubscribe from our emails. 7. Right to Complain
